The German carmaker said Wednesday it will spend 650 million euros ($710.6 million) to update the factory site with four buildings, including a vehicle-assembly line. "The Munich plant is an excellent example of our ability to adapt," said Milan Nedeljkovic, a BMW board member in charge of production. Around 1,200 existing workers were trained for different production jobs in Munich or have been employed elsewhere in the production network, BMW said. In a statement, BMW characterized the decision as the "era of automobiles with combustion engines from Munich" ending after 75 years.
