In Manipur, the ruling Congress was ahead in 16 seats and the BJP in 11 seats out of the 32 of the 40 seats, for which trends were available. Led by former chief minister Capt Amrinder Singh, the Congress had forged ahead in 65 seats with the Akali-BJP alliance ahead in only 28 and Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Admi Party (AAP) ahead in 24 seats.
