BJP alleges ‘maha jungle raj’ in Bengal, says Mamata ‘threatened’ Amit Shah

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday (January 2, 2026) alleged that there was “maha jungle raj” in Trinamool Congress-ruled West Bengal, and that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had threatened Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said: “In West Bengal, we see how jungle raj is flourishing throughout under the patronage of Mamata Banerjee. “What is ‘jungle raj’, ‘maha jungle raj’, ‘goonda raj’ like? She wants to maintain a relationship with them, but she uses abusive language against India’s Home Minister,” alleged Mr. Bhatia. He says that in West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee does not steal votes, she commits vote dacoity,” he said.
