Share TweetBy Jun RamirezThe Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is inviting students and other information technology enthusiasts to submit applications (apps) on simplifying the procedure of registration, filing, and payment of taxes for the convenience of taxpayers. BIR tax information chief Alou Narvaez said the innovation challenge seeks to further simplify tax forms and serve the needs of taxpayers, particularly self-employed individuals like sole proprietors and professionals. Presently, she said taxpayers go to the BIR offices to change their registration details, filing long and complex tax forms and paying taxes over-the-counter at authorized agent banks. According to social media firms Hootsuite and We Are Social Media, Filipinos are the world’s heaviest Internet users, spending 10 hours daily online.
