BHU students left puzzled after being asked to write essay on 'GST in Kautilya's Arthashastra'

Students of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) were left puzzled when they were asked to write about the nature of GST in Kautilya's Arthashastra in examination. The Political Science paper for MA (Master of Arts) in BHU had two unusual 15-mark questions on Monday. The students were left baffled when they had to choose between to write an essay on the nature of GST in Kautilya’s Arthashastra or a discussion on 'Manu is the first Indian thinker of globalisation', according to an Indian Express report. The questions on these topics were set for the paper ‘Social and Political Thought in Ancient and Medieval India’ of MA. One of the BHU student had admitted that they were taught by Professor Mishra about the GST-Kautilya question in class and were asked to take notes.
