BHP, which mines products including copper, is aiming to have net zero carbon emissions by 2050The world’s biggest mining company is preparing to unveil new targets for cutting its carbon emissions as the industry comes under growing pressure to tackle its environmental footprint. BHP is due to update investors on Thursday after promising last year that it would set goals for reducing “scope 3” emissions — those generated by customers using its products. It also has promised to give updated commitments for reducing the emissions it generates in its own operations by 2030, en route to its pledge to reduce them to “net zero” by 2050.
