The Supreme Court on Sunday gave Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) six months time to demolish its building at Hatijheel Lake. A three-member Appellate Division bench, led by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha passed the order Sunday morning. The BGMEA had earlier sought three years time to demolish the building through an application submitted to the SC on March 8. The High Court found the building illegal as it was constructed violating the law protecting the country’s wetlands.
