BGB hands over detained BSF member after flag meeting

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB-51) handed over a detained member of India’s Border Security Force (BSF) following a battalion-level flag meeting at the Dahagram border in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat district on Sunday. According to media reports, the meeting was attended by BGB-51 Battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Selim Al Din and 174 BSF Battalion Deputy Commandant Bijoy Prakash Sukla, along with officials from both sides. During the meeting, BSF deputy commander expressed regret over the incident and assured that such intrusions would not recur in the future. BGB commander urged the BSF to detain, rather than fire upon, any Bangladeshi nationals found crossing into Indian territory and to hand them over to the BGB. BGB also recovered a shotgun, two rounds of ammunition, a wireless set and an android mobile phone from the BSF member.
