However, BSF DG Shri KK Sharma was unwilling to call them border killings and instead labelled them "unexpected deaths." "However, they cannot be called border killings; they are unexpected deaths." The BSF director general claimed Bangladeshi nationals are not the only ones to lose their lives on the borders, as a number of Indian civilians have also died. Praising BGB's role against groups of Indian insurgents, the BSF director general sought BGB's cooperation in uprooting any Indian insurgent groups that might be sheltering inside Bangladesh.
