BGB chief attends int’l symposium on border security


Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General (DG) Maj Gen Abul Hossain attended the first global conference on border security on Wednesday, where he discussed the evolution and challenges of border management and shared his experience in enforcing security at the Bangladesh border. Invited as the key-note speaker at the conference, titled “1st International Symposium on Land and Maritime Border Security and Safety: Challenges and Solutions,” the BGB chief presented his essay titled “National, Regional and International Cooperation and Its Effectiveness to Enhance Border Security and Safety: Past, Present and Future,” said a BGB press release. At the symposium, the BGB chief highlighted the ongoing Rohingya crisis, saying what was happening in Myanmar was a humanitarian disaster. “The hapless Rohingya people are being forced to flee their homeland to Bangladesh because of the atrocities committed by Myanmar security forces. At the symposium, the participants shared their experiences and views on issues related to land and maritime border and port security.
