BCCI receives 57 applications for post of India coach


NEW DELHI: The BCCI has said in a statement on Sunday that they have received a total of 57 applications from coaches within India and overseas for the post of head coach of the Indian cricket team. After this initial scrutiny, the list of candidates will be processed for further consideration.The chairman of current selection committee Sandeep Patil and the former Team India director Ravi Shastri were among the big names who applied for the coveted post. The deadline set by the Indian board for applying for the post was June 10, 2016.The release further stated that the office of the honorary secretary of the board will carry out a primary scrutiny of the applications to check whether they meet the set eligibility criteria. Shastri had worked with the team for 18 months as its director, before his contract ended at the conclusion of ICC World T20.Former India batsman Praveen Amre was the latest to join the race along with India counterparts Vikram Rathour, Balwinder Sandhu, Lalchand Rajput, Robin Singh, Surendra Bhave and Venkatesh Prasad
