Earlier this month he brought it to my attention that his son was playing a part in a BBC 2 drama called Danny Boy. Only for Tom I would never have seen the drama and I certainly would have missed a great programme. The 90-minute drama tells the true story of soldier Brian Wood, who served with the British Army in Iraq during the 2003 war. The BBC drama is based on the Al-Sweady Inquiry. Politicians, the media and the arms industry might well shout the justice of their cause but this BBC programme tells the real damage that war causes.
