BBC’s Songs of Praise snubs cathedral choir

The Cor Glanaethwy choir is to appear on the BBC after reaching the final of ITV’s Britain's Got Talent TOM DYMOND/PASongs of Praise is at the centre of a row after it was accused of snubbing a cathedral choir in favour of singers who featured on Britain’s Got Talent. An episode of the BBC show is due to be filmed at Bangor Cathedral on Monday but will feature a choir from a performing arts school not singers from the cathedral’s own choir. One young chorister, who asked not to be named, wrote to cathedral bosses to say that the choice was “disrespectful”. The choir chosen to sing is called Cor Glanaethwy, which came third in the final of Britain’s Got Talent in 2015, losing out to Matisse, a dancing dog. They come from Ysgol Glanaethwy, a performing arts school.
