“An inquiry committee has already been formed to investigate into the irregularity,” said Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor SK Sur Chowdhury while talking to the reporters. Sur, who is also the head of the committee, said: “Though the board had earlier decided to use 22 Karat gold in the crests that will be awarded to the best BB employees, finally the crests were made of 21 Karat gold instead of 22. Bangladesh Bank has selected 23 best employees in two categories for Bangladesh Bank Employees Recognition Award and the board approved the list on December 11. Award winners in “A” category are given a crest with 12 gram gold made of 22 Karat. “The invitees of the ceremony were informed about the cancelation of the programme through mobile SMS yesterday morning,” said Subhankar Saha, executive director of Bangladesh Bank.
