Speaking at a discussion at Bangladesh Institute of Bank Management (BIBM), he also said such irregularities cloud the achievements of the banking sector, caused mainly by over-ambition of wilful loan defaulters. The governor added that measures have been taken to increase the central bank’s surveillance on all the banks. “Our officials are undergoing rigorous trainings to fix the menace,” he remarked. “State-of-the-art technology will be applied to monitor the loopholes of banks.”Junaid Kamal Ahmad, the World Bank country director for India, also spoke during the occasion.
