The BB expressed its dissatisfaction over the slow disbursement of loans from the stimulus funds, as the banks and NBFIs distributed only Tk2,000 crore till August from Tk20,000 crore stimulus fund for CMSMEs, said a top BB official who attended in the meeting. On August 18, The BB extended the deadline from August till October for the disbursement of the Tk20,000 crore stimulus fund announced for CMSME sector. Then, on July 2, the BB asked the banks to disburse all stimulus funds announced by the government by August this year. To encourage lending to the CMSME sector, the BB introduced a credit guarantee scheme on July 23 for the first time. However, the banks and NBFIs remained reluctant to disburse loans to the sector.
