Zanatta's 15-employee company is one of the first Canadian companies to switch production and start turning out surgical masks. A Coquitlam-based factory is retooling to produce surgical masks, one of the first companies in Canada to switch production to help protect front-line medical staff. Orders for Novo Textiles pet beds got thin after the pandemic hit, so the owner is turning to surgical masks. He predicts he will be producing 100,000 surgical masks per day within a week. He already has orders for regular surgical masks with the province, care homes and Downtown Eastside organizations.
