VICTORIA—An outbreak of the Delta variant of the coronavirus in British Columbia’s Central Okanagan area has prompted the province to return to some COVID-19 restrictions there. The Central Okanagan area accounts for most of the 56 per cent of new cases in the province that are in the Interior Health Region, Health Minister Adrian Dix said. The regional orders have been made by Dr. Sue Pollack, the medical health officer for the interior health authority. The Central Okanagan is the area surrounding Kelowna, the largest city in the interior of B.C., which includes holiday destinations such as Peachland and Lake Country. Last week, the Central Okanagan local health area introduced a local mask mandate for indoor settings, which remains in place.
