B.C. government announces $2.7 million in funding to support care for people dementia

VANCOUVER — The provincial government said Sunday it will contribute $2.7 million to help individuals living with dementia and their caretakers access services tailored to their needs. “It’s not an NDP or a Liberal thing today, it’s our thing,” Dix told participants. For close to 40 years, he said, the Alzheimer Society had been a critical resource for families and individuals living with the disease. The $2.7 million will go to keep the Alzheimer Society’s First Link program going through 2020. The program helps connect people with dementia to physicians and social supports immediately following their initial diagnosis.
