Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan Tuesday retracted his comments against the opposition, barely a day after he blamed them for the Bulandshar gangrape. “He is a victim of madness,” he said when asked about Khan calling the incident an opposition conspiracy. Khan claimed that he did not say it was an opposition conspiracy, but only intended that such incidents have been happening when polls in Uttar Pradesh are nearing. “Didn’t say ‘virodhiyon ki shaazish’, said that UP polls are close and so many such incidents are happening,” said Khan. “We must also probe whether this entire controversy is a move by some Opposition elements to defame the government.
