Though he had been attending his father’s rallies in the past, Abdullah Azam Khan’s first stint with politics came about during the 2014 Lok Sabha election when his father was barred from campaigning by the Election Commission. Khan’s youngest son made his first public speech in April 2014, in a town near Rampur and appealed to people to support his father and bring the SP to power. Swar Tanda lies in Rampur district of UP, and will see Khan’s youngest son start his political career from here. For political analysts, by inducting his son to the party, Khan has only carried forward the ideology of nepotism followed by the Samajwadi Party. “SP lost terribly to the BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha election, winning just five of the 80 seats, while BJP won 71.
