ISLAMABAD: Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Khursheed Shah Thursday said that Speaker National Assembly (NA) Ayaz Sadiq’s statement regarding the assemblies “not being able to complete the term” revealed the “inside story”. Talking on a local TV talk show, he said that the speaker said this because he has a ‘better sense and understanding’ of the situation. He further said that there is one party which wants elections to be held before time because according to them “if the elections are not held before time, there will be a civil war”. He said that all stakeholders in Pakistan need to sit together to work on how to save the country and democracy, stressing that the elections should be held on time and the assemblies should complete their terms in order to save democracy. Reacting to Ayaz Sadiq’s statement, Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif also asserted that assemblies would complete their tenure and that there was no possibility for an early or late election in the country.
