With about six weeks to the March 3, 2026, by-election in the Ayawaso East constituency, internal discussions within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) over a replacement for the late Member of Parliament, Naser Toure Mahama, are intensifying. EC to conduct Ayawaso East by-election on March 3 following death of MP Mahama Naser ToureAccording to them, their position is informed by her active involvement in party activities, her contributions during the 2024 general election, and her familiarity with the developmental and social issues affecting the constituency. According to them, allowing Hajia Amina Adam to serve the remainder of her late husband’s term would ensure continuity and stability in the constituency’s representation, even though she has not publicly declared her intention to contest the by-election. Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission has set March 3, 2026, for the by-election to fill the vacant Ayawaso East parliamentary seat following the death of the incumbent MP.
