Sources said, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader called top brasses of the two units of Dhaka city, and asked them to announce council dates immediately. Awami League President Sheikh Hasina instructed Awami League presidium members Lt Col (Retd) Muhammad Faruq Khan, and Abdur Razzaque to form the committees earlier, and they also failed. Awami League allegedly nominated Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sayeed Khokon so many times that the South unit’s General Secretary Shah Alam Murad tried to form pocket committees with his own followers. Dhaka North unit’s General Secretary Sadek Khan said they will declare the date soon.
