And yeah, Avengers: Infinity War got off to an expectedly huge start in its first batch of overseas launches yesterday. The 19th MCU movie opens in North America and much of the world tonight, but it made its first stand in 21 overseas markets and snagged $39 million. That doesn’t mean much in terms of opening weekend since The Last Jedi debuted with $220m and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (the fourth-biggest seller) earned “just” $155m on its opening weekend. We’ll see if Infinity War helps Black Panther this weekend, as some well-timed double features may push it past the global cume of The Last Jedi ($1.333 billion). By the way, if you’re seeing Avengers: Infinity War tonight, please give me the scoop on Twitter or Facebook about crowd reactions, what trailers were played and how they were received and the like.
