Autopsy For the Airbus A380? Part I

The Airbus A380, the world’s biggest jetliner, recently celebrated its tenth in-service anniversary. It debuted in commercial service with Singapore Airlines, with its first commercial flight on October 25, 2007. To “celebrate” the anniversary, Singapore Airlines recently retired its first A380, returning it to a German leasing group. Many have commented on the plush accommodations offered by the Airbus A380, its unique double-decker style, graceful long wings, and engine operation so silent that pilots were disturbed by crying babies. Airbus also claims that the A380 is relatively green, with 50 percent less CO2 emissions per passenger than its nearest competitor.
