Auto industry prefers experienced leaders, IT roots for young bosses: Study


According to a just released study by HR firm TeamLease, the Indian automobile industry values experienced leaders far more than young bosses with 73% respondents saying that they preferred working with an experienced boss.The IT sector , on the other hand, prefers young bosses with 69% respondents rooting for a young leader. Overall 53% of the respondents said they had worked with experienced bosses while mere 38% had actually worked with a young boss.A good 41% of the respondents across industries said they found young bosses more understanding. "The 'Younger Boss- Older Subordinate Relationship' survey was conducted on HR managers across sectors. In a company with a young workforce, agility, creativity and actionability will be much more.The study found 57% of entry to mid-level employees would prefer a young boss. An experienced leader, on the other hand, is better capable of handling "complexity, ambiguity, people and organizational transformation" said the report.Others said authority and maturity come with experience.
