GEORGE TOWN: Out of the total 43 victims stranded on Penang Hill since last Saturday, 31 have been airlifted out by the Fire and Rescue Department using a helicopter. "We were forced to use helicopter to bring down the victims as the path to the peak is risky, littered with fallen trees and blocked due to landslides. "The remaining 12, seven men and five women, are being brought down," he said. It is believed that the visitors went up Penang Hill on Saturday for a religious ceremony but was left stranded since the suspension of the train service due to the several landslides along the track. The rescue mission was carried out together with the armed forces, civil defence force and medical officers from Penang Hospital, among others.
