The fact that white women overwhelmingly voted for Trump instead of a woman is a clear indication of the ways in which we learn patriarchy and misogyny. I’m white and we don’t live the same kind of everyday oppression that people of colour do. I do think social media can be an effective tool for organizing. But what the indigenous leaders and activists do so brilliantly with this movement is to not only rely on social media. We cannot rely on social media as the only means of action.
