Going off recent auction results, it seems that wealthy Australian car enthusiasts are currently obsessed with vintage number plates, with increasingly large sums of money being paid for examples of early plates. The Hordern family owned a number of two-digit plates in the period, including consecutive plates ranging from 40 to 44. Or just a very expensive number plate? However, 42 passed in at the May 20th auction, but a number of other plates still sold for big money. 4* Huge price for number plate '29'NSW plates "257" and "273" sold for AU$175,000 and AU$190,000 respectively, while "954" went for AU$122,000.
