Australian retail group to buy MacpacJANE SANDERS/STUFF Macpac founder Bruce McIntyre started the clothing company from his parents' garage in Christchurch 45 years ago. Another New Zealand outdoor clothing and equipment company has changed hands. Macpac, which was founded in 1973 in Bruce McIntyre, is being sold to Australian fund manager Super Retail Group for $144 million. Super Retail Group chief executive Peter Birtles​ told the Australian Financial Review that buying Macpac was in line with the group's strategy to inspire customers to enjoy their leisure time. Super Retail Group plan to consolidate its Rays outdoor outlets under the Macpac brand.
