An Australia-based pharmaceutical firm wants to hold clinical trials in the country for the coronavirus vaccine it is developing. The Australian subsidiary of the Chinese Clover Biopharmaceuticals Inc. has sent an application to the country’s Vaccine Expert Panel (VEP) for a preclinical trial evaluation, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director-General Rolando Enrique Domingo announced at a briefing Friday. The Sinovac trial will be independent of the solidarity trial being worked out by the World Health Organization (WHO). Sites have already been assigned for the WHO trials by the Inter-Agency Task Force’s Sub-Technical Working Group on Vaccine Development. Roque said the DoH was directed to immediately convene the task group and form subtask groups as necessary.
