Australia-only Super Rugby contest set to start

Rugby Australia is planning on starting an Australia-only five-team Super Rugby competition which will include the Perth-based Western Force. The Force were controversially cut from the international Super Rugby competition in 2017, when Australia reduced its number of representative teams in the competition from five to four, ABC NEws reports. The club, that is owned by Andrew Forrest, has continued to play matches in competitions outside Super Rugby.-Photo: AAPThe ABC understands the earliest an Australian-only competition could start would be July and would mirror similar competitions in New Zealand and South Africa.
