Austin had the lowest rate of high blood pressure as well as low rates of diabetes and smoking in the Forbes analysis. AUSTIN, Texas — Austin is among the five healthiest major cities in the U.S., according to a new analysis from Forbes Advisor. Forbes analyzed the 46 most populated cities in the country across eight categories: rate of heart disease deaths, rate of opioid overdoses, diabetes rate, high blood pressure rate, binge drinking rate, obesity rate, smoking rate and rate of adults who report physical inactivity. Austin had the lowest percentage of high blood pressure, fifth lowest rate of adults who reported smoking, and fourth lowest rate of adults with diabetes among the cities studied. Austin also had the 10th lowest rate of adults who report being physically inactive.
