AUSTIN, Texas (KEYE) -- The city of Austin is getting ready to ring in the New Year. Austin’s big New Year’s event is expected to be bigger and better than ever. The festivities for the celebration kicked off at 7 p.m., but people were gathering hours before then, trying to snag that perfect spot. As the countdown to 2024 started, vendors were setting up and preparations to make this year’s celebration Austin’s best were underway. A countdown will begin shortly before midnight and once we’re into 2024, the big fireworks show will light up the sky.
