Audio: Libyan Patrol Boat Threatens NGO Vessel During Refugee OpsSea-Watch 4 was threatened by a Libyan patrol boat during the NGO's recent refugee operations (Sea-Watch)In the latest tense exchange between the Libyans and the NGO humanitarian organizations operating in the Mediterranean, a patrol boat is heard threatening one of the rescue vessels. In July 2021, Sea-Watch released images from its reconnaissance airplane of a Libyan patrol boat chasing and shooting at a refugee craft. It was during these search and rescue operations that the Sea-Watch 4 came in contact with the Libyan patrol boat. In the second exchange, the Libyan patrol boat is issuing orders to Sea-Watch 4 and when they are not following the instructions they are told to stop or “We will shoot you.” The Libyan patrol boat repeats its threat two more times. A Libyan patrol boat unlawfully pressured the Sea-Watch 4 to leave the region, even though the ship is in international waters.
