South Auckland politicians have granted more financial relief after Papatoetoe’s devastating tornado, but some locals say they need more help. At a meeting on Tuesday, the Ōtara-Papatoetoe local board reallocated $60,000 for the Papatoetoe tornado recovery. A total of $260,000 has now been pumped into a Mayoral Relief Fund, after the council and government also allocated $100,000 each. The government has offered to top-up the Mayoral Relief Fund if needed.
