Charges have been laid nearly a year after Auckland port worker Pala’amo (Amo) Kalati was crushed to death by a container aboard a ship. Maritime NZ, which oversees safety aboard ships, filed charges on Thursday afternoon in Auckland District Court, court staff confirmed. Both Ports of Auckland Ltd and the individual will face multiple charges under the Health and Safety at Work Act.
