Auckland mayor Phil Goff’s closest advisor is leaving for a senior role at casino operator Sky City. Nirupa George has been Goff’s chief of staff for the past three years, after joining his team on the 2016 election campaign. George will in June take up the role of chief corporate affairs officer for the listed hospitality group. “Her political management skills and experience has been a great asset to my office and the team. She will be replaced by an existing mayoral office staff member, Claire Rorke, currently the director of Political Strategy and Government Relations.
