In response, the council's Kenneth Aiolupotea said: "The community was engaged on the proposed fireworks ban in a public consultation process where all Aucklanders were given an opportunity to have their say. Under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act, the council also revealed that 50 consultation respondents made more than one submission in relation to the fireworks ban. People would still be able to attend public fireworks displays, the council said.
