Auckland councillors will meet officials from the Department of Internal Affairs next week to consider the Government’s proposed Three Waters reforms. Under the plans, water services would no longer be controlled by councils and would instead be operated by a small number of publicly-owned, multi-regional entities. In a statement Local Government Minister Nanaia Mahuta said after years of under-investment in water services and infrastructure reform is needed.
