An Auckland company that sold more than 1300 children’s toys that were a choking hazard and had easy access to batteries has been fined $60,000. The Commerce Commission brought charges under the Fair Trading Act against East Tāmaki business The Quick Dollar, following an investigation that began in 2019. The company pleaded guilty to charges relating to a pink guitar, an 11-piece beach toy set and a two-piece go-go mini car toy set. In its submissions the Commerce Commission told the Court that The Quick Dollar had co-operated with its investigation.
