Attorney General Mahbubey Alam has alleged that a large portion of court officials and employees is involved in corruption. Mentioning that the judiciary’s image was tarnished over the last few years, Alam expressed hope that the new chief justice would bring a radical change during his tenure. “But some judges’ mismanagement in running court activities is tarnishing the whole judiciary’s image.”The attorney general hoped the new chief justice would take steps to further use information technology in the judicial activities. Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain was appointed as the new chief justice on Friday by the president. Hours after his appointment, Justice Abdul Wahhab Miah, who had been carrying out the activities of chief justice since October 3, resigned from the Appellate Division.
