Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has come to the defence of fellow blogger Pauline Njoroge and accused the government of attempting to gag the media. His statement followed the arrest and detention of Azimio blogger and political commentator Pauline Njoroge on Saturday in Watamu. But Alai claimed Pauline was arrested on fake charges to hinder the free flow of information that is vital for a well-informed citizenry. He said the previous administration arrested several bloggers on baseless accusations and some like Bogonko Bosire are yet to be found ten years on. "Attempts to silence bloggers and new media journalists through violence or intimidation will not succeed.
