FORMER Vice President Atiku Abubakar has thrown his weight behind the decision of the police authorities to withdraw their personnel providing security for important private citizens. The former Vice President recalled that he had earlier called for the withdrawal of the police personnel from private individuals and was glad that the authorities had heeded his call. Their school was left unguarded.”The statement also recalled that Atiku had earlier called for the reassigning of the 150,000 policemen guarding private citizens to core police duties. Why should the police be guarding VIPs who can afford personal guards and leave vulnerable girls unguarded? We are spending billions of Naira trying to encourage girls to go to school only to allow them to be abducted by terrorists,” the statement quoted Atiku as saying.
