Rhys MannionAthlone's Rhys heading to Texas for major film festival premiereA talented teenage actor from Athlone will soon be heading to a prestigious festival in Texas for the world premiere of an Irish film in which he stars. Hollywood A-listers Sandra Bullock and Nicholas Cage are among those due to attend next month's South by Southwest (SXSW) film festival in Austin, and they will be joined there by former Athlone Community College student Rhys Mannion from Kiltoom. It's one of eight world premieres that are to be screened for the 'Narrative Feature Competition' at the festival in Texas. Before then, however, Rhys will be part of another film festival closer to home. The Virgin Media-sponsored Dublin International Film Festival gets underway on Wednesday, February 23, and will include a short film in which he appears.
