Abdullahi, popularly known as the Grand Mulla, is perceived as a supporter of Deputy President William Ruto, while Kipkorir backs Raila. Mutua attended Raila's Azimio la Umoja event in which he announced his presidential bid. Mutua, who is also the Kenya Human Rights Commission chairperson, said at the event that he sees no competition for Raila in the upcoming General Election. He insisted that it is time Kenyans start thinking with their heads and not hearts by looking at the histories of each candidate. If it was a football match it would end at 50 minutes," Mutua said in his address at the Azimo a Umoja convention.
