The Padma Bridge faced about 3.5kms congestion on the first day of traffic on Sunday from Zajira point of the bridge. The traffic jam began in the evening as the motorcycles were getting on the bridge before other vehicles resulting in long queues of buses, microbuses, cars and goods vehicles. Jamal, a driver of Tongi Express bus, said it took two hours to ride the 3.5km road. Jibul Ahmed, an engineer at the Padma Bridge Toll Plaza, said the traffic jam was created because of the motorcycles. Meanwhile, the government has decided to ban the movement of motorcycles on Padma Bridge.
