"The Kenyan Red Cross Society has received at least 2,000 Ethiopian asylum seekers in Moyale Town following their displacement from Ethiopia," the aid organisation said in a statement late on Monday. The Oromiya province has been plagued by outbreaks of violence even though Ethiopia declared a six-month, nationwide state of emergency last month. The Kenyan Red Cross said refugees from Ethiopia had begun to arrive in Kenya on Saturday, the majority of them women and children.
