The two lionesses at Chittagong Zoo have long been deprived of their mates in the cages. On the other hand, the two lions at Rangpur Zoo were also passing their days in extreme loneliness in absence of mates. Therefore, to remove loneliness of the captive mammals, an exchange of a lion and lioness took place between the two zoos. Deputy Curator of Chittagong Zoo left for Rangpur Zoo with the lioness ‘Borsha’ on August 29 and returned with the lion ‘Badsha’. Dr Md Mongur Morshed Chowdhury, deputy curator of Chittagong Zoo, told the Dhaka Tribune that the arrival of a lion breathed a new life into the zoo.
